I had to look into the dictionary for that word. Be proud, not many things interest me enough to do that 
Star Control III the little microscopic thingies that infested that warlike race (haven't played in ages and can't geting it working on any comp  ) so pardon the description

As being a big Star Wars fan, I would like to know where did you see them clasified as semi-sentient??
As for the new one I will say: Battle suits from the book Starship Troopers by Robert A. Heinlein

My first guess was Kashyyk too, but techincaly it's not a jungle planet but a forest planet (so is Endor which is not a planet but a forest moon), and ground there has never been seen (at least not by humans or wookies).
As for my own guess I hope something will pop up today :)

I'm gona say Borgs, since they're nano modified :P
As to Ithor I though the ground was rarely walked upon (which Wedge kind of didn't care about :P ). All you had to do to see it is to lean across the floating ships bow :)

hmmm I may be way of the mark but are you talking about the reciever station that retransmited the first Death Star blueprints on the planet Toprava (or the one in the asteroid field that retransmited them later to Tatvine IV, Princes Leia's ship)
What can I say I'm a SW fan and that's always the first thing I think of
